West Coast USA - Travel Tips
My name is Craig Moore and my hobby is travelling. Here are a few tips to help you plan your next adventure.

San Francisco
This is one of my favourite cities. Angus Fox gave me a tip which proved to be excellent. The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Prison and the city are best seen from a boat. There are lots of tourist boats that cost a lot of money. Angus told me to use the commuter ferry boats instead. One of the best routes was the ferry boat that called in at Tiburon on the other side of the bay. If you didn’t want to pay the high cost of San Francisco hotels an ideal solution was to stay in one of the motels in Tiburon that over look the sea and commute into the city.

Make sure you buy your tickets for Alcatraz Prison on line and print them off . It will help you jump queues and as it is very popular make sure that you can actually get on a tour on the date you want. Lots of tourists get disappointed as all the tickets for that day have been sold.

San Francisco should be seen from the water at night. The twinkling lights on the sky scrapers reflected off the water are very picturesque. The Tiburon Commuter Ferry boat is a cheap option to see this night time sight. Just buy a return ticket and catch it from the Financial District ferry boat station

Fisherman’s wharf Pier 39 is one of San Francisco’s best attraction. The pier is fun with good shops cafes and marina. What is special are the wild sea lions that live at the end of the pier. They have taken over the pontoons originally designed to dock boats up against. The sea lions have made them their home. Spend time watching them and take a camera with a long lens. The smell is quiet strong so eat afterwards.

One of the special foods of San Francisco is sold in the cafes along the sea front near Pier 39. It is a clam chowder soup served in a hollowed out large round bread with the top cut off. If you do not fancy that San Francisco’s China Town is one of the best China Towns in America.

Opposite Pier 39 are shops that sell electrical equipment very cheap. If you want a new Ipod or camera this is the place to buy. Find out how much they cost in the UK and then go to these shops with CASH to get the best price. I got a new Olympus Digital camera 1/3rd the UK price.

Near by is the queue for the iconic San Francisco Trolley Bus. There will be a big queue. It is worth the wait. Buy the Michelin Guide and follow some of its suggested walking tours. It takes you down posh alley ways in very attractive housing areas. They are like walking through some ones front garden.
